Wyoming Teacher of the Year

My teaching philosophy
A good teacher possesses an extensive knowledge of his or her subject area,
prepares lessons which respond to student needs and interests, and displays
a true passion for education and young people.
My philosophy in action
I have a Master's Degree in French and have lived, studied and traveled extensively
in France. I never go into my classroom without a good lesson plan. I survey
my students regarding the effectiveness of lessons and areas of interest within
the curriculum. I enjoy young people and they seem to enjoy having me as a teacher.
My greatest teaching accomplishment
I still enjoy my job after 33 years in the profession.
The most critical issues facing educators today
Teachers today need to work hard to prepare lessons which engage young people
whose motivation and ability may be seriously impacted by societal issues.
Ways to resolve this issue
Hard work and constant educational renewal plus the willingness to change and
adapt as society and student needs change.
One thought to inspire teachers to succeed
Be a lifelong learner yourself and remember that all young people truly do want
to learn.
One lesson every student should learn
The quality of your education depends greatly on your own motivation and the
effort you contribute to learning.
